Introduction
As an IBM Application Architect, you directly help clients transform their business and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms. You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a solution architect for the highest priority projects, this role would involve
- Working side-by-side as a member of a delivery SCRUM team to ensure service capabilities’ consistency, maintainability, and high-scalability
- Designing and documenting the solution architecture from end-to-end, and top-to-bottom, with best practices and design patterns
- Being familiar with client’s platform-as-a-service (PaaS) landscape, and applying them in the technical solutions
- Extending the solutions to include Greater China specific vendors, technologies, and industry best practices
- Applying Agile and DevOps technologies and practices in the projects
- Assessing individual architecture solutions’ compatibility with client’s architectural vision and framework
- Identifying qualitative and quantitative technical risk factors around internal and external security and privacy compliance
- Effectively communicating complex technical solutions through excellent written and verbal skills
- Developing proof-of-concept pilot solution projects to address key architectural concerns and feasibility
- Committing to hands-on technical design and code reviews
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
We are seeking a high-performing Solution Architect to lead best practices for our e-commerce cloud platform. The successful candidate is a proven architect with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. What we are specifically looking for the talent with:
- 10+ years software development experience
- 5+ years of experience working on solutions with multiple application domains listed above
- 4+ years acting in an architect or an engineering lead role
- Experience driving technical brainstorming sessions and solution workshops with technical, product, and project management staff
- Hands-on experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g. AWS, Ali Cloud, Azure, Tencent Cloud, etc.)
- Hands-on experience in SQL database such as Oracle, MySQL, and/or PostGreSQL, as well as NoSQL data stores, such as S3, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or similar technologies
- Prior experience in designing and implementing mobile-first applications with a solid understanding of the mobile app and web development technologies
- Diverse and deep hands-on experience in cloud-native and microservice architecture, domain-driven design, and RESTful Services, using languages such as Java, Python, Go, and/or Scala
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Strong experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery and other DevOps experience preferred
- In-depth understanding of the analytics, CRM, marketing automation, campaign management, search, recommendation, ads, audience creation/targeting, etc., is preferred
- Experience on big data technologies and platforms such as Spark, Airflow, Presto, etc., as well as local vendor integration experience such as with Sensors Data, GrowingIO, etc., are a big plus
- Integration experience with ERP, SCM, Order Management, and/or Fulfillment in the retail industry is a big plus
- Experience on information security and data privacy practices is desirable
- Working knowledge of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) with resources such as server, storage, and networking devices and configurations is preferred
- In-depth knowledge of digital commerce and marketplace strategy, and development of technical platforms, architecture, and solutions for omni-channel consumer experience for retail industry are big plus
- Familiarity with AWS stack in resources and PaaS is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Mathematics, or other relevant subject area
- Excellent Chinese and English bi-lingual verbal and written communication skills are mandatory
