This role is to be based at Honeywell’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Shanghai, who will provide patent related support for PMT business. Main responsibilities include: 

 I - Searching 

1. Information mining using patent databases and non-patent literature to prepare analysis reports for matters involving patentability, landscape, enforcement searches, competitive intelligence, technology trends etc. 

2. Monitor publicly available information sources to identify potential infringers of PMT IP 

II – Freedom to Practice and IP Strategy 

1. Perform/assist technical team on first pass review of results of freedom to practice search results to ID technical distinctions with minimal/no guidance 

2. Assist technology team/IP counsel in identifying white space for innovation/differentiation & developing IP strategy for New Product Development Projects, and major R&D efforts 

III – Patent Process 

1. Stimulate and manage the invention disclosure process including assisting PMT China-based inventors to complete invention disclosures, WIDS requirement tool & assess patentability of new inventions

2. Assist PMT E4E patent committee administrative work 

3. Assist IP counsel in prosecution related activities including obtaining information & documents from inventors 

IV– IP Protection & enforcement

1. Work with IP counsel in trade secret security (TSS) program including developing IP protection plan, implementing the TSS strategy, conducting audit across PMT (particularly on PMT JVs) 

2. Assist with PMT Asia enforcement activities as requested by IP enforcement team 

V - Other

1. Maintain IP matrix reporting and reward scheme for PMT Shanghai lab 

2. Obtain, issue, audit, store/retrieve lab notebooks in accordance with PMT policy/process 

3. Other IP related activities assigned by counsel from time to time

Qualification:

? Bachelor/Master degree in chemicals / materials background 

? A minimum of 5 years of patent experience in industries 

? 2 years relevant experience in patent search and analytics 

? PRC Patent Agent qualification is a mus

? Strong bias for action and results-oriented 

? Ability to analyze information and present analysis reports to customers within strict timelines and quality standard. 

? Proactively develops understanding of diverse technology areas apart from his / her technical /engineering background. 

? Ability to work well across cultures 

? Ability to work effectively in a matrix reporting structure 

? Able to communicate effectively in English, both spoken and written
