Position overview

Under the general supervision of the University Controller and the Dean of School, the position holder provides technical support for 1) multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching and research activities; 2) research-led and practice-driven teaching across the academic portfolio in the School; 3) domestic and international collaboration research projects.


  The role is based in XJTLU Suzhou Campus before XJTLU Entrepreneur College  (Taicang) opens in 2022 and is expected to work closely with academic staff  across the University, the Health and Safety Office, the Management Information  Technology and System Office, the Campus Management Office, and industry  partners. The post holder is a member of staff of the following Schools that  has been mentioned below, and has a direct reporting line to the University  Controller, who oversees laboratory operation of the University, with a dotted  reporting line to the Dean of the School. The successful applicant would be  proactive, reflective, and committed to on-time delivery, with a high level of  professional ethics.


  Currenly the Taicang Campus is hiring 5 Technicians in different schools for different directions, please read the following job descriptions carefully when making job applications. 

These are all full-time roles and the working hours will be Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with one hour for lunch each working day. On some occasions, the role-holder is expected to work flexibly outside office hours. The job description is neither exhaustive nor prescriptive but will develop, in consultation with the role-holder, as circumstances change.

Position A: Technician A (School of Intelligent Manufacturing Ecosystem + School of Robotics):

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Develop an understanding of the equipment used in laboratories giving a decision-making capability with regard to its installation and maintenance;

2. Work closely with the University Health and Safety Office, the Campus Management Office, the Management Information Technology and System Office, and audit bodies to identify and raise awareness of health and safety hazards in the School laboratories and ensure laboratories to meet the safety standards at all aspects;

3. Develop and maintain instruction manual and technical/operational standards;

4. Assist with the specification, procurement, installation and care /maintenance of laboratory equipment;

5. Prepare and standardise solutions and other laboratory materials;

6. Organise and maintain stockrooms, and ensure the storage of any laboratory supplies;

7. Maintain accurate records of open accounts and budget information;

8. Provide training and supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students and postdoctoral research staff in the use of equipment and control systems;

9. Assist and advise with the specification, procurement and installation of appropriate equipment for the future development of the school laboratories.

10. Perform any other worked related tasks assigned by the University Controller and the Dean of the School. 


Qualifications and experience:

1. Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Automatic Control Engineering, Robotics, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant field to support undergraduate and postgraduate laboratory teaching and research projects.

2. Excellent written and spoken skills in Chinese and English.

3. Excellent organisational skills and attention to details.

4. A good team player with strong interpersonal skills.

5. Dependability, reliability and ability to produce work of high quality in time.

6. Good understanding and skills in inter-culture communications.

7. Independent and proactive in implementing the duties.

8. Previous experience as a technician in a high education context or similar.

9. Knowledge in CPU / GPU server management is a plus.

主要职责:

1.掌握实验室设备的使用方法,具备设施安装和维护能力;

2.与健康和安全办公室、校园管理办公室、管理信息技术和系统办公室以及审计部门密切合作,确保实验室符合各项安全标准;

3.制定并更新实验室指导手册及相关操作标准;

1.硕士学位,机电一体化、机械工程及其自动化、自动控制工程、机器人、制造工程、计算机科学或相关专业,能够协助完成本科和研究生教学和项目研究工作。

2.优秀的中英文写作及口语能力。

3.优秀的组织能力以及细节观察能力。

4.良好的团队合作和人际沟通能力。

5.工作可靠,按时保质完成工作。

6.良好的跨文化沟通能力 ,能适应全英文办公环境。

7.独立自主,积极主动的完成工作任务。

8.有高校类似工作经验者优先。

9.有CPU / GPU服务器管理经验者优先。

此工作为全职,工作时间周一至周五,上午9点到下午5点(含一个小时午餐)。在特殊情况下,需要在工作时间之外灵活办公。具体工作内容会根据学院需求进行一定程度调整。

Position A: Technician B (School of AI and Advanced Computing):

Position C: Technician C (School of Internet of Things):

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Conduct labs and demonstrate experiments, either independently or with a faculty member at XJTLU.

2. Prepare lab reports, experimental setups, etc. for undergraduate modules.

3. Guide students in undergraduate research project development.

4. Communicate with School of Internet of Thing’s industry partners to oversee their requirements for the collaborative activities.

5. Other administrative and departmental duties as required by the School and the University.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor degree Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Mechatronic Engineering (or similar disciplines).

2. Preferably 1+ years of work experience. Fresh graduates can also apply.

3. Fluent in speaking, listening and writing in English.

4. Strong knowledge of digital and electronic system designs. Good programming skills. Familiarity with wireless networks and RF systems will be an advantage.

5. Strong sense of ownership and result driven.

6. Good time management & interpersonal skill.

7. A solid team player and faster learner.

Position D: Technician D (School of Cultural Technology)

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Set up, checking and troubleshooting of equipment in XR and production Studio and necessary peripherals devices when required for all classes and practical training.

2. Check equipment/facilities in XR and production Studio on a regular basis to ensure functionality and safety; make the maintenance schedule and record the maintenance logs.

3. Be involved in the movement of XR and media production equipment in and out of XR and production Studio when required for all projects and classes.

4. Be involved in operating the online booking system to assist students and staff to use facilities and equipment during their studies and project work.

5. Provide technical assistance to teaching and practice.

6. Support the academic and venue use activities.

7. To liaise with faculty/University staff and outside bodies to resolve problems.

8.   Do check-tick everyday ensure the studios are safe and functional.

9. Other duties commensurate with position as defined by the School Dean or line manager.



Qualifications:

1. Bachelor degree, major in Media Production; Game Design; Interactive Design; Computer Science or related major.

2. One year’s and above working experience as either in a film, game, animation environment, working as an Audio-Visual Technician or a relevant position.

3. Fluent in speaking, listening and writing in English.

4. Proven experience with VR/AR technology, game engine, modern camera, lighting and associated film equipment.

5. Knowledge of virtual production techniques and technological developments.

6. Up to date knowledge of digital audio and audio-visual equipment.

7. Good interpersonal, communication skills, excellent problem-solving skills, as well as good customer service and teamwork spirit.


岗位职责:

1. 建立、检查和故障排除生产工作室的XR设备和必要的外围设备,为所有课程和实践培训。

2. 定期检查XR和生产车间的设备设施,确保其正常运行和安全,同时制定维修计划,记录维修日志。

3.在所有项目和课程需要时,参与XR和媒体制作设备进出XR和制作工作室。

4. 参与操作网上预订系统,以协助学生和教职员在学习和专题工作期间使用设施和设备。

5. 为教学和实践提供技术支持。

6. 支持学术和场地使用活动。

7. 与老师及外部团体联络以解决问题。

8。每天做检查,确保工作室的安全和功能。

9. 其他院长或直线经理规定的与职位相应的职责。

资格:

1. 大学本科学历,媒体制作、游戏设计、交互设计、计算机或相关专业。

2. 1年以上电影、游戏、动画、视听技术员或相关职位的工作经验优先。

3.流利的英语听说写能力。

4. 经验丰富的VR/AR技术,游戏引擎,现代相机,照明和相关的电影设备。

5. 了解虚拟生产技术和技术发展。

6. 数字音频和视听设备的最新知识。

7. 良好的人际关系、沟通能力、解决问题的能力,以及良好的客户服务和团队合作精神。
